Pentium 4 and pentium d

Hi my motherboard. Is a socket 775 and i bought my motherboard 2 months ago. It also says on the box that its core 2 duo and pentium d compatible. Would rather want the core 2 duo . But dont have money. The pentium d is 950 rand south african. And the core 2 duos is 2500 rand. Huge difference. Huge.
