pci x16 or 2.0

pci 16x 2.0 graphics cards are backwards compatible with pci 16x. plus pci 16x 2.0 doesnt show any significant benefit so running it on pci 16x will be fine

That is just a plain old PCI-E x16 card.

PCI-E x16 2.0 is usually backwards compatible with PCI-E x16, but I take it your board manufacturer states that it can't or something like that?

well see if you do a search on my motherboard with an 8800GT which i had to send back which was 2.0. My motherboard is one of the few that cant backwards compatible (Asus A8v-xe). I got another card in mind that is a little cheaper

is it x16 or 2.0 ?

there are many googleable stories of older chipsets not being compatible with the PCI-E v2.0, there is a solution, but it's risky, personally, I would just pony up the dough for a newer mobo...

too techno-geeky for me

though I did get something useful from the link, I made a bootable usb...
