Default PC Problem...can't login to Windows

This isn't for any of my pc's that I own, but a friend has this problem. She was messing around with some network thing or something on her PC earlier today (she's computer illiterate so bear with me) anyways she was messing with something with the network and she canceled what ever it was doing half-way through and it somehow changed her pass so now she cant log into Windows...um she's running a 2000...I told her to try to guess the pass, if not, then just reinstall Windows. Anyone know what to do?

There are ways around the windows login pw, but i'm pretty sure were not suppose to discuss those ways on the forums. It involves making a bootable disc and thats all i'm saying. Don't want to push the limits. If a mod ok's it i'll post you a link

How can I gain access to a Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 computer if I forgot the administrator’s password? How can I reset the administrator’s password if I forgot it?

I use emergency boot CD to reset forgotten windows passwords. I still use the older version, which is good on anything from NT 4 to Vista. Here's a link to the older version, and theirs a download link on the page.
