Hey, i just recently had a flood in my basement, got about 6 inches of water. My computer was on standby so everything was off but it was still plugged in, water probably got to below the sata ports on the motherboard, bottum mounted psu so its done, but what about the rest of the pc??? just installed a ocz 120gb ssd, and radeon 5870, the mobo is a p5q pro and cpu is dual core e8500, with 4gb ddr2-800 ram. Do u think the the whole unit is fryed?

Thank you for your suggestions.

Scary. No way to really tell without turning it on. BUT let it dry out first. I'm sure you've probably already done it, but stick it somewhere warm and dry (like a boiler cupboard- though that's probably in your new downstairs swimming pool). Also, see if you can get your hangs on some sillicia gel. I would recommened taking the machine apart and trying each piece in another comp.

Personally I think a lot of components will still work, but if they don't making an insurance claim?
