Okay, my intel i7 920 and Gigabyte EX58-DS4 mobo have arrived, havent got anything else yet due christmas coming around the corner and other prioritys have to come first (sadly).

But I am still concerned about having a 620W psu to power the rig, I found this PSU and wondering if its too much of an overkill:

Also I have decided to put more funds into getting a decent GPU, can someone find me the best for around £250

thanks.

Here the prices are different. The GTX is cheaper. There is a small difference. But, looking at the price of the 4870, I would go with that.

Unless you play Dead Space, I would go with the 4870. For some reason the 216 kills the 4870 in that game.

HD 4870 kills the 260 (216) in GRID and Age Of Conan though.

And the 620W is going to be more than enough, you don't have anything to worry about. It's the Corsair HX620, right?

What res? A lot of people forget about this extremely important factor.

Yeah its the corsair.

And I need the best bang for buck as this will be used on a 42 plasma time to time so 1920x1080 if possible.

Thanks.

Are you going to be gaming on that resolution, or just watching movies and stuff? You're going to need a lot of power to run newer games at high settings on that resolution. If you're just watching movies, anything mid-grade card will do.

You'll need something like this for fantastic results.

You'll actually need more than one, haha.

Outch, out way out of my budget, probably going to stick with the HIS 4870 1GB as everyone is recommending it and in the future I will get another one to double it up.
