pc build

You want to buy two DIMMs so you can have dual channel memory. It can theoretically increase memory performance by 100%. In practice, it will help a good bit in file transfers and gaming, but that is about it. Mobo and CPU are good quality, but generic ram? eeew...

What will this computer be used for?

ummm, it will be used for light gaming, downloading movies to watch on my media player and browsing the web. what do you mean by generic ram?
btw i have orderd a 1tb serial ata hdd and a asus graphics card to go with it.

An upgrade of what part? Memory? Sure. I would just leave it unless it dies though if it saves you that much though.

I'm right there with you. I'm 16.

you seem to know alot more though lol. i was thinking about the DIMM thing. what amout of ram would you recommend? i have a ddr2

2GB is fine for light usage and casual gaming. 4GB is the max you will ever need in the near future. I tried and couldn't use all 4GB of RAM in my computer.

Just be sure you buy a 64 bit OS if you have more than 3GB of RAM or else any extra will be useless.
