PC "beeps" when turned on

I took my pc to my new flat last week & when i turned it on i get an intermitent "beep" from what i presume to be the main board & no signal to the monitor ..
Then to follwing day i tried it once more with success , except i had to press "F1" to allow it to continue to boot up, then while i was loading my new broadband software i crashed again & now were back to the beeps again only.. ..

Any ideas ? thanks

My first instinct is bad RAM. Download and run Memtest over night and see what it detects.
