Default Partitioning

Hi, I have quite a few data on my hard drive and now I want to partition my drive to 2 drives to split my data. I know that with microsoft's built-in function, I could do it but I need to format my disk, which I will lose my data. My question is, are there any software out there that will let me partition my disk without losing my data? I've heard of Partition Magic, but I'm not sure if I have to format or not. Thanks to all in advance.
