Partition problem... AARRGGHH!!!

no that doesn't work either... the broken partition shows up as unknown... i can erase the data using killdisk, but i'm still stuck with a broken partition after...

I tried cfdisk (on suse linux 10.1), but that reports the partition to be 'Unusable', and it won't let me format it. Ist there any way i can remove the dead partition?

what about downloading the live cd from a friends computer, have him or her make an ISO disk , and try booting from that.

i've tried suse livecd... which gets to the desktop, but won't let me access or format the dead partition.

have ya tried downloading the WD diagnostic stuff. Or ya could just write the hole drive with zeros and do some fresh partitions etc

ok, i've tried the wd diagnostics... but it only allows to write zeros to the entire hd... not just a partition...

is it possible to just write zeros to one partition?
