hi, i was bored so i took my old crappy computer and decided to overclock it (lol) because im to scared to do it to my new one. Like i said it is a P4 1.8GHz, so i changed the FSB from 100-116 Mhz making it 2.1 GHz. im going to post a screen shot of my tempretures and you guys can tell me if it is good or not. I have 2 fans, one the CPU and the other for the rest of the case. i have a fan sitting in front of the computer to keep it even colder. i have a MSI 645-U MAX motherboard.

In this picture for some reason my CPU temp jumped from 49-80's! i turned my computer off right away.

This is the temps after i restarted and when i left it idle for a bit.

if u guys want i'll get a picture of how my fan is placed in front of my computer and the inside of the computer if needed.

That is quite weird. Did it go back to normal after that?

Also, what is up with all the crossed out icons?

ya im playing my game and it's stable at 44*C, i think it's probaly cuz i put the fan even closer to the case. anyways if my temps stay at this, how far do u think i can overclock this thing??

the reason for the crossed out icons is because they are pornsss.

wello i got my p4 2.8ghz uip to 3.5 on stock , got it to 3.6ghz but thiks started getting a bit freaky so i went to 3.5 and the temps raised less than 5 degrees but i have
an akasa ak675 on the cpu one 80mm fan blowing air into the case at the front . one on the side blowing onto the mobo and cpu cooler . then arear 80mm fan epelling air and the psu fan
i also have a 120mm fan internally mounted at the bottom blowing air up

P4's have the ablity to slow themselves down if they get too hot. run it at 2.0GHz and put it under stress. also download cpu-z(google it) to see if the speed lowers it self back to noramal. the max tempeture is around 80c. if it gets over 80c pull the cord from the back. dont waste time shutting it down properly
also might be your motherboard sensor dosent work. happened to my old socket a asus motherboard

best advice ever . pull the cord and dont waste time shutting down .
also if you where planning an overclock youmaywant to , layo n extra fans and a better cpu cooler and apply arctic silver 5 to the cpu

If your gonna pull the cord, just hit the switch instead. Pulling the cord like that from any electronic device is bad for it.

I would update your Speedfan version to the latest (4.32 I think).

I really doubt it was running that hot. If it was, see how long you could keep your finger on the heatsink.

ok this is weird i went into the bios and checked the temps there it was always around 65-70. i went to the program on my desktop it tells me 48, im thinking because the computer is not loading anything the temp in bios would be lower? i also thing the porgram is telling me the rong temps cuz i was about to take this thing to 2.2 GHz and i dont wanna mess things up. because when i overclock it to much it turns off right away due to overheat right? can i turn it back on, go to bios and lower it again or would it be ruined?

I got my P4 1.8 to 2.4. I have a well vented case, so my temps never get above 46 C
