hey everybody,

im new to this forum but i no computers pretty well, but not overclocking. I have a Ms-6390 motherboard and the manual said its capable of 2600+ but it is only running at 1.67ghz. The heatsink is huge and it has a huge fan so i think im okay there but how would i overclock it and which was is the most reliable and easiest.

Here is my computer setup(i no the ram is important btw)
MS-6390 amd athlon 1.67ghz
512mb ddr pc2100 ram
80gb hard drive
nvidia geforce 4 fx5200 ultra
sound blaster audigy sound card
L1 256k L2 256k of cache

Thank you for any help

its capable of 2600+
This requires a bios flash and a new 2600 cpu.
Overclocking is like doing 60 in first gear, you decide.

Its an AMD; the number 2600 means that is the Intel equivilent, not the processor speed. The processor speed is supposed to be 1.67Ghz; not 2.6Ghz.

Yes just like my AMD Athlon 64 3200+, which only runs around 1.78GHz with 2.0GHz max. The 3200+ is suppose to be equivilent to Intel's 3.2GHz processor.

Also a 3200 even though its ment to run i par with a 3.2 only conts as a pentuim 4 with 533mhz FSB not 800mhz HT .

Yeah; I wish I had a Pentium! The FSB, the Cache, the Name, the Power. If only they had made 64-bits Mid-December 2004! Oh well, not too long now! :D
