I am not a gamer but I am pretty sure the reason for overclocking is for gaming. Is there any other benefits to it? Please use your own words when explaining this.

thx

Yup, the main reason for overclocking is for increased gaming performance. Another big reason is for bragging rights, "I can overclock mine higher than yours".

Overclocking does have benefits for regular use. Apps will open quicker, videos play smoother, etc.

It's also a hobby for some. There are a lot of people out there who just want to see how far they can push their machines.

I accidently reset my cosmos yesterday, so I had to do it again! I forgot how much fun it was. 2.6 Q6600 to 3.2!

I could get it faster though!
