Outlook Message Alerts

Hi, i recently installed outlook 2007, but i was having a problem with the email notification stuff. I have my mail set to go to different subfolders in my inbox using rules. When i get emails, i no longer get that taskbar mail icon telling me i have new mail. Ive found out how to get the sound and desktop alert thing going though, through rules.

does anyone know the answer to this problem?

Is Outlook open all the time? I think Outlook must be open to get the taskbar icon, can anyone confirm this?

Try this:
- Right click the Start button
- Click Properties
- Go to the Taskbar tab
- Click the Customize button
- Make sure "You have new mail" is set to either "Hide when inactive" or "Always show".
