Im about to uninstall windows on my technologically retarded moms half dead dell... its as slow as **** and is crashing after 30 secs of use... (she has been using the same XP installation for 4 years and me for 3 years). I think the problem is all the extra software we dont use and viruses we cant get rid of.

all she uses it for is web surfing, MS word, and outlook for email. i think she can handle a little change for the better...

BUT is there any way she can get outlook onto her ubuntu system to access her email, or can i DL a third party program?

LOL and she blames me for:
having my comp hooked up to the router is making it slow (the comp not the internet)
I deleted my abandoned account so it broke the printer
The ball mouse keeps "freezing" because "of a virus"

and she keeps "deleting files" to "free up memory" to "speed the computer up"

and my personal favorite:
"Dell is a great brand of computers, you just keep breaking it"

Ubuntu comes with an e-mail program called Evolution. It's very similar to Outlook, and should do the job fine.

Yeah..it's not really an Outlook account. You just use Outlook to access the e-mail account on the charter.net server. So you can use any e-mail program really..
