Opinions Please?

i know its a bit overkill but im thinking ahead to windows vista and ive heard it requires quite a bit of graphics power

Oh well, at least getting a good video card along side would allow room for better monitors too :p

And Windows Viesta won't use that much graphics power I don't think. Its only using a Direct 3d interface which is actually faster anyway than the software one used now.

ok this is what i think would be a good system...

total price...$754.41, a little more than u said but that cpu will overclock to 3GHz which is EXTREMELY fast for an amd so if u learn how to overclock which isnt hard to do that comp will fly

I'm not too sure on that CPU Gaming Freak...
If he didn't overclock it... for instance. Like alot of people like to keep it as specced.

If anything, i'd skimp on the graphics slightly, and get a better CPU mocked up.

Or am i under estimating that 1GHZ monster?

EDIT:

Sorry, I just read the detailed specs, that is good

Though, is it right to move from a Pentium since editing is whats done the most? Plus, I'm still slightly unsure about that graphics card. I'm not sure if its needed at all... though there is a chance he might play games later on I guess...

lol ya its 2.2GHz and easily overclockable to 3GHz which i think everyone should learn how to do anyway because of the money u save from it, and i think going from intel to amd is good no matter what and as for the graphics card im still undecided on it because he still hasnt replied

There is something else though... he'll need a CPU heatsink and fan. Thats OEM. It doesn't come with one :p

I could do gaming later.

Im saying if I can get $250 out of this computer I have now on Ebay then Id slowly piece by piece this together I guess.

oh ya well spotted kage that wouldve been bad :D anyway any heatsink from zalman would do and just add another $30 to the price
