Arrow Operating system.

I'm upgrading my system, i think this should be my last question...

My new system will be,

Hard Drive

Ram (x 4gigs)

The question I have is about the OS
Operating system.

I want windows XP and the 64 bit edition but i can only seem to find OEM versions of the OS that says its for builders to resale the product....
Can someone explain what OEM means in common English?
Will this operating system work properly with my computer being that is is OEM?
I was reading and some articles / reviews were talking about software issues with XP x64. Are there huge compatibility issues with XP x64 that should make me bite the bullet and get Vista x64, or huge advantages of getting Vista x64 that should encourage me to get it? (price, compatibility, reliability, etc?)

Default Re: Operating system.

OEM is basically the OS CD and nothing else. No fancy box, manuals, etc. The OS itself is no different then the retail version.

If you're intending on going with a 64 bit OS, I think you'll be better off using Vista. It offers better program compatibility, and since you using all new components. there should be no problems getting Vista compatible drivers.

Besides, you can get Vista Home Basic SP1 64-bit for much less at $89.99.
