I had a thread about this but I think it got deleted.

Anyway, Which CD drive is better.

LG GWA-4161 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER

Or

COMBO DRIVE (16X DVD-ROM & 52x32x52 CD-RW)

Thanks in advance

I'm judging they're both LG? They are excellent drives as I got one too. Always get the one with the DVD RW, in other words, a DVD burner. Combo drives are old and are typically DVD ROMS with CD RW, not DVD RWs.

With that in mind, get the first one.

OK thanks.

But, I have the option to get another drive. Should I just get a 52X CD-Rom?

THese days, you really don't need 2 optical drives (technically). For convienence, two drives are nice (kind of like a CD changer, so to speak). In my opinion, as long as one of the drive is a DVD burner, the other one can be whatever you want. I'm pretty sure you'll be burning stuff as you go. If budget limits you, yeah, you can go with a standard CD ROM.

One more question.

Can the LG GWA-4161 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER play games and other stuff

OK cool thanks

oops

I lied. I have one more question.

In the computer I'm getting, LG GWA-4161 16X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER comes standard with it, but it also comes with a 16X DVD ROM. Do I even need that?

If it comes with it, I'll would go ahead and take it. If they're charging you extra for that, then forget it. It's not necessary to have 2 optical drives on a PC.
