I believe a socket 478 heatsink will fit on a socket 423, at least you can get them compatible for both sockets. The size and orientation of the socket is the same, I believe.

That may be true, although it would depend entirely on the orientation of the bracket.

Yeah, that's true. I am not sure how the two sockets are laid out in comparison with each other.

Socket 423 is completely different. It uses the same look as the Socket 370, just with a different pin layout. You NEED to use a heasink with clips. The ones on Socket 370/462 like.

the idle temps are 111-114 F
