old hard drive

Old hard drive which has so many viruses on it
what i want to do is change it into an external hard drive.
so is there a way to wipe the hard drive before i modify it or do i do it after?

Is it the one that still currently has your OS on it?

I use Acronis True Image to destroy files and then RevoUninstaller to wipe the drive.

If it was me, i would install an Antivirus onto my comp, make the HDD into an external, plug it in, and do a full Format on it.

Not sure if this is recommended to do or not.

i really do want to wipe the drive so i think i will go with Remeniz but does any1 know of a different program i could use to destroy the files?

Formatting does wipe the files IIRC.

You can get the formatting tools from the manufacture website. If you re-certify the drive it's gonna take a while but it will be 100% wiped.
