Default Old dial up modem vs. new dial up modem

Thanks to you all for answereing my other thread about modems. Is there a difference in modems. I just remembered that I have a older computer I would guess it's about 8 years old it's 800 mega hertz. Is there a difference in using that old vs. a new one in a store. Thanks

Well dialup modems, being slow, are usually pretty generic and dont vary speeds very much, but def upgrading that 800mhz computer might make the overall performance much better...
