Well, a hard drive containing multiple partitions allows you to "lower" your drive's effective access time, providing you with a more responsive system, so yes.

okay cool. i can just partition my huge drive. maybe like 50gb for music/media. and 40g for windows. and 150g(or whatever's left) for programs etc.

Something like that. Some people like to have a separate partition for swap files too.

Virtual memory. You can have it set to a partition, given the right amount of space.

oh, i c. that makes sense. how much space does that need? like 5gb? i bet it'll only use about 1g at a time, so 5g should be safe right?

Yeah. I hear different numbers from different peoiple. But most I hear are anywhere from 3GB-6GB.

okay. cool. dang. 5 gigs for virtual memory. i have an old pc in my garage that only has a 2gb hdd. lol. technology has definately advanced.

so this is my entire build so far:

power supply
GPU
MOBO
CPU
CASE
RAM
PASTE

floppy drive
hdd
cathodes
case (same as the two that came with the case)
120mm case fan
memory card reader

keyboard(i bought it new from a friend for like $30)
speakers (also bought from a friend for $50)

the second "paragraph" or w/e its called is in the mail still. i should be getting it tomorrow. and when my pc is all put tohether, i'll post pics.

well, i got a 2998 for 3d Mark 06. is that good?
btw, i had my memory set only at 450mhz and cpu at 2170mhz (217x10).

oh yeah. and is that a decent oc. my vcore is only at 1.400. but thats as high as my bios lets me go. i hear some people use up to 1.700 on other boards. dang, i guess this mobo aint all that. well, actually, other than that low voltage capability, its not bad at all.
