3870 looks like a waste of money (if nvidia can actually make some 8800gt's)

On the positive side, the 3850 looks fantastic value for money.

the 3870 512MB version will be more in competition with the 8800GT 256MB version because of the pricing.

Pricewise, and actually performance. Crysis and some other games tend to have a real fight...I mean...3 FPS difference...that's not noticable much.
