Default *Official* CF Dream Machine Thread

Please, post what you are going to build. I will be making a Multitasking machine. Because that is what I like to do. Remember to include the total price. I just kinda want to see what you all come up with.

And yes, this is made for a personal computer. Not a server. Despite what it may look like

no, intels are far better for multitasking.

wow thats a good pc arrix. that would definitely multitask well. that's actually an overkill. you absolutely need that processor?? and 4 gigs of ram? thats a whole lot. are you like going to play 2 games at once? this computer would kick butt, but do you really even need this much power?

my next build (once i get the money, i only have $600) is going to have

(i'll probly wait for AM2), but for now i'm going with an

Athlon X2 3800 - i want to multitask to a somewhat good degree, but not as much as that zeon, and i want to game pretty well, so this processor is good

2 GB ram

NForce 4 mobo

Geforce 7600gt - i don't want the absolute best video card now, because once dx10 comes out i'll upgrade

that PC seems fine for me, i don't need to post the newegg links because i don't feel like it

the whole pc depends on my budget. hopefull I get a job, if I don't i'll get something like that.

Maya unlimited, Photoshop, and Motion builder demand alot from a comp just by themselves. I use them all a once and my rig still doesn't slow down.

arrix, how would that mobo have a max memory of 24gb if it only has 6 memory slots. That equates to 6 4gb sticks of ram, which I don't think exhist.

anyways, my ultimate computer.
A great multitasking computer:

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131564 ~$200

Ram (x2): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098 ~$160 ea

Vid Card (x2): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130279 ~$530 ea (in SLI mode(

Sound Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102181 ~$280

Speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116142 ~$430

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116246 ~$1020

Hard Drives (x6): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822147007 ~$350 ea

Hard Drives (x2): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148097 ~$300 ea

Dvd burner (x2): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135062 ~$45 ea

Floppy drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16821103303 ~$10

Monitors (x4): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824006084 ~$1040 ea

Keyboard/mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823126180 ~$55

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133155 ~$180

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703003 ~$470

UPS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703003 ~$320

Along with some other acessories.
Total Price about $12,000

edit:

replace the mobo, cpu, and mem with these:

mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813151009 ~$1250

cpu's (x4): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103573 ~$870 ea

memory (x16): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146576 ~$520 ea

oh, then the total is about $25,000
and probably half of the other components will not work, that is a server mobo.

Wow, I was making mine at least reasonable, but 12 grand! Holy hell!

Later today, ill make the best one I can find! I wont worry about keeping it semi low, im going all out

And im a mutlitasker, so as always, ill go with Xeons

EDIT>

Oh yeah, and the reason I dont have crossfire or a better video card, as its not a gaming PC. But ill show you all something kick ass

Remember, to make a full computer. Not just the basic parts. I mean everything. Case, CD drive, all the little odd ball things we dont normally think about.
