Which would have better gaming performance, 2 nVidia gtx 580 SLI or 1 nVidia gtx 590?

Thanks in advance for the help!!

2 GTX 580s, however some games do NOT support SLI therefore keeping performance at the same as 1, or even LOWERING the performance, so it matters on what games you like to play. If you play games like L4D2 and Crysis then it will increase your performance by 30-100%, but if you play games like World Of Warcraft, and Eve, then it will stay at the same performance or lower than one GTX 580.

I tend to go with one higher end card rather than 2 slightly worse cards in sli for that exact reason of not getting all the performance from both cards all the time. That and cost

All in all, 2 GTX 580s would cost more, but have better performance.
