It all depends on what you want to do with your laptop.They come in the type's
1:- Lite, small screen, generally lower powered. very good battery life.
2:- medium weight, medium to high power, decent battery life.
3:- Desktop replacement, Heavy, Full powered, poor battery life.
Cat 1 are generally cheap and great for taking with you and doing wordprocessing, Internet etc. NOT games. Can be quite cheap.
Cat 2 If you get one with a good GPU they can be a little expensive but are powerfull enough for most games.
Cat 3 As the name suggests, similar to a full desktop, not designed to be moved everywhere, alright if your taking it around in a card but too heavy to lug arround and the battery life can be as low as 1Hr 30mins as they use desktop CPU's. Not very expensive.
