Norton AV 2005

I use norton internet security 2005 on my computer and it all worked fine for a while. Then i updated the Java platform and norton takes at least 5 hours (im not sure never let it finish) to scan through this directory: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02\lib\rt.jar
Is there anything i can do to speed this up as it is preventing me from performing a full system scan.
