Default Non-system disc error

My friend called me up today with another one of his problems (he owns a compaq, its understandable) He went to turn on his computer, and got the error message that a non-system disc or w/e was in one of the drives. Of course, my friend isn't that stupid, so he checked all the drives, and they were empty. So I went over to help him out, I checked the boot sequence, changed it around a bit but still got the same message. Then, I just unplugged the floppy drive, and still got the message. My friend told me he didn't make any changes or install anything new before this happened. What's the issue here?

I'm not sure which model it is, cuz i didn't check.... I think its in the 5000 series... has a P4...
