everytime i get this error "non-system disk error". I can boot up the system just fine with the xp cd. this all started when i tried to reformat another hdd with a possilble virus on it.

is there a way that i can put boot files back onto my HDD?

when i try to reformat using the xp cd it goes through the loading screen just fine but when it says "setup is starting windows" the computer crashes.

-Thank you in advance.

This can happen if you don't have the master/slave set properly. Did you try to format the other hard drive within Windows, or by booting to the cd? You could try a repair, but your computer is crashing, make sure the other hard drive is not connected when you try to boot.
