Default No Videos Will Play On My Computer

I recently bought a new computer, but can't seem to get any videos to play on anything other then Windows Media Center.

At first I thought it was only DIVX and XVID files, but even streaming videos don't work. The sounf plays, but no video shows up. I downloaded VLC player, and installed codec, but I still have the same problem! Can anyone help? Why do the files just work on Media Center? Any help would be appreciated!

Nope, DIVX files do not play. I've managed to fix the problem on Windows Media Player by decreasing the video acceleration in the preformance options. Does anyone know I could do the same in VLC player?
