I have just collected a machine that will not post.

He was having issues with the system crashing so he tried reseating the RAM.

The fans spin up then settle down and then get a long beep

The RAM provided is 2 x 2GB DDR2

the machine has previously worked with both sticks of RAM until reseating

I have tried alernating the RAM modules and trying them individually but the same beep is heard.

I tried with no ram and also get the same beep

I have tried with other RAM sticks also

Also pulled out all hardware even the HDD.

All cables have been reseated and the fan spins on the CPU.

No graphics card in the machine.

Hope you can help

Sam

Just reseated Processor and assembled the motherboard out of its case, still got the same issue. Its something to do with the RAM slots i think,

I have also pulled the battery out of the mobo and fully powered down the system.

Ya, RAM slots. My 1st test when it won't post is to pull the RAM. If it beeps, then I know it's the RAM. If it doens't beep, then it's the MoBo.

Are you able to test the RAM in another PC?

I have tried using the ram from a known working machine with no luck but will try the original ram in a second Mobo.
