No motherboad sound!!!

OK... this week has been a real pain in the ass for me. I switched cases from my stock emachine to a clear bigger case with more fans due to all the hardware i now got. I finally got everything working but the onboard sound and I have no clue what's going on with it. My motherboard is an MS 7145 http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=RS480M-IL&class=mb. I have used live update from MSI to get all of the drivers but one but the ati system driver shouldn't have anything to do with the audio right? any help would be great.....

and oh yea.... i don't have my orginal system disks..... i went and bought xp.

go to your device manager and double click on "Sound, video and games controllers" and see if there is an exclamation point next to one of them. if there is you either need to enable the sound or there is a driver porblem.

if not, either the sound crapped out on you or you can check the volume control to sse if the volume is either turned off or the mute is on.
