unless there might be something here i didn't get, i think that would be ur best bet, unless you'd rather a dif card anyway

alright, this may be a little too late, and I didn't want to start a new thread sine this is the same topic, but... I was looking on the PSU at that piece that supplies the main power to the comp and it has 24 little "ports" but the one I ordered has 20. Will it still work on my computer!?

if the mobo has 24pin thingy and the psu has 20pin it should work fine. If it doesn't then u can buy those converter thingys for like $10. (Changes the pins from 20 to 24)

So, it SHOULD work, as in no problems, right? Even though there are four pins left over that aren't used? Seems kinda strange. I guess I could put it in the middle of the attachement on the mobo to where there are two empty pins on each side...

One more question, the little four pin connecter that attaches near the PCI ports and such, does this work to power those aforementioned PCI ports, because the six port connector that comes with the new PSU has no place on the board to be plugged in. Of course, my old PSU had one too that wasn't used.

on PCI-Express nVidia has support for SLi so you might have extra pins unconnected on the top side of your card, PCI-E suports in itself more power then AGP so you may not have to plug in anything from your PSU into the card.

if you want to try out with your older PSU it should be ok, there is realy nothing that can happen to your card when you run out of power and the computer resets.

Vortec isn't bad. IT has nice reviews, it's 500W and it's only 80 bucks.

when ur card reaches maxium energy ( forgot wut that word wuts), ur PSU wont be enough. but doom3 is a pretty stressful game for ur card without a 350w PSU. i would get a new PSU if i were u, jus to be sure. a 420w psu only cost like $20 (cheapest i've seen). normally maybe 30-70. there are those expensive ones.

My current PSU has 300, this one has 400. Shouldn't be a problem for one video card.

The problem that I ran/running into is the main cable to the mobo.

You see, my comp has a 24 pin connecter and the new one has twenty

That cable has 20 pins, my mobo has enough for 24. I know it will fit in there, but will it work?

What I'm trying to figure out is will the 20 pin work. So far somebody has said yes, which I hope is the true.

Alright people, I'm just going to order a 20-24 pin converter, maybe it will work...

i highly despise converters, but if its the only way, then go for it.
