Default New system in the works, OMG THE WORLD IS GONNA END!

My dad finally agreed to get me a computer! weeeewwt.

Specs:
- Combo cd-rom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106992

- Case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119068

- RAM:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145440

- CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103572

- HDD:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144122

- Mainboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130491

- PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103464

- GPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130283

After shipping, it totals in at: $719.83

Now i've done my research, and I think all these parts will work perfectly fine.
I plan on playing games with this system, but i'm not so egotistcal that i need to max out with full aa and af with 1600x1200 resolution or anything, so i think that GPU will suffice.

My only question is..

What about IDE and SATA?

I have an understanding that SATA is only faster if you use 10k+ rpm hard drives, in my case i'll just use a 7200 rpm..

I also heard that when you use the hard drive on say... the primary ide slot, you should not have another hard drive on the same slot, apparently keeping it seperate keeps the speed up on par with a 7200 rpm sata drive.. but this is just my understanding..

If this is true i'll just use an IDE, I don't really want to go through the hassle of setting up a SATA drive.. IDE is less of a hassle.

comments?

NO, use sata whatever speed, they're so good, faster as well. Get 2x60Gb maybe, and RAID them.

For the record, i'm on a tight budget, i'm not going raid, so perish the thought.

It's either a SATA 80gb or an IDE 80gb, both would use 7200 RPM.

Now I need a real answer regaurding it, not suggustions to get something more expensive.

I have personally used SATA, and after hearing so much, I was not impressed at all.

SATA, even if the speeds arent much diff, the SATA cables are much smaller and dont block fans and air flow like IDE cables.

OK, hes asking about how fast they are, IDE cables can be easily hidden anyway, or you can use rounded.

Go for an 80GB SATA...

The motherboard i'm getting comes with rounded IDE cables, so I don't think airflow will be affected much

Eh screw it, obviously I really SHOULD get sata... I guess i'll go for it..

Personally, I don't care for looks.
as you can see, my case is not going to be a light show or anything.

For now I will use stock, I hear they are perfectly fine if you don't over clock.

As for fans.. i'll probably get a few thermaltakes or something.

Since i'm not overclocking, I'm hoping that I will have somewhat quiet system...
