Default new system

So I decided to buy a new system by parts. Assus P5P800 SE with P4 630 . I also got a HDD Maxtor 250G at 7200 SATA. My question to you guys , I also have an older HDD which doesn't have SATA connections, will these two work together or at least as long as I transfer some files from the older HDD to the newest one.
I hope I have provided all the correct info for my question to be answered. Thank you very mcuh in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

The older HDD will be an IDE interface. Just set the jumper to "slave" plug it all in, transfer it all over, and your done. Pretty easy really. You could evan keep it in there, as a media drive.

one question related to the power supply
I meant to buy a 24 pin PS and that is what the web retailer advertised but they sent me a 20 pin PS. Can I still use it with a 20 to 24 converter cable?
My system is a Asus P5P800 SE with P4 630 , probably 2 HDD DVD-ROM and DVD-Writer. PS at 600W
Need info ASAP looking to either replace the PS or buy a converter cable.

Just so you know, most boards allow to hook 20 pin cable to 24 pin slot but some may not.

If you have something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812201001

You'll be fine either way

it goes in the slot on the MB but I was afraid not to burn it
should I plug it in without the connector?

I would say better safe than sorry, get the connector; check your motherboard manual though -- it may say it's ok
