new rig not working

ok well i finally put together my first computer last night with some difficulty. the problem is when you boot it up there is not respose the HD spins I hear the fans going but nothing. I had no on board video so I used a PCIe cards thought BIOS might be detecting video for PCI slots so i used a 5200 FX and that didn't work. and finally I (for some reason) reset BIOS and tried again. what do I need to do to get this to boot? If i can get a display in BIOS I can go from there but I have nothing.

Go to your boot setup in bios and set you boot to your cd rom drive to 1st priority, so that you may install the windows os.

Does it give any beep codes? Your getting nothing at all just a black screen? Boot it up and listen for the speakers to give out a series of beeps. That will help a great deal in figuring out the problem.

If its not even posting.. its a faulty motherboard.
Check all the connections before you do anything, and secure everything.
Re-seat your RAM as well.

i havent tried listening for beep codes , great idea! and I hope its not faulty I just bought it, ill try reseating the RAM but when you create a new comp from scratch without onboard video isn't it supposed to display something?
