Take a look inside, open the case up, and see how many ram slots there are..Also I think cpuz, will tell you, without opening it up, not 100% sure though./=

I have 2 slots and 1 is free..

Is there a cap though?

Like i can't pass 1 gig?

Or is it because there are 2 slots open i can fit 2 gigs?

check the slots. but most ram should work with most motherboards.

Your m/board specs will tell you the maximum amount of ram your board can take, refer to either the manual or the manufacturers website.
