Default new monitor

im thinking about getting a new widescreen monitor but i have a few concerns about them, in gaming do they have to make a box in the center of the screen and have black bars down the side? i know this is dependent on resolution but what resolutions are wide screen? and are they that much better then a standard monitor?
i was thinking about getting this one http://www.anitec.ca/product/5856/vi...creen_tft_lcd/

what do u guys think?
thx for the help

I dont think they do no, the picture just stretches itself across the whole monitor. That's a nice one you have picked out there.
