Question New MoBo/CPU!!! Any suggestions?

Budget: $350.00. Preferably around $300.00 or so.

Hey guys,
First off, I cannot decide whether to get AMD or Intel. I have used Intel all my life, so I am more comfortable with them, but I have heard tons of great stuff about AMD. I will be using my computer for listening to music, using Word, surfing internet, light gaming, and some occasional video editing. I know that AMD is better for gaming, Intel better for multitasking (which video editing uses a lot of). Since I'll be doing both, I'm not sure what will best suit me. I am really pulling towards AMD, but Intel would be nice for my video editing with Hyper Threading. Below is a list of mobo/CPU requirements/likes....So there is my CPU standpoint.

Secondly, I need a good mobo. Below is a list of what I'd like/require from the motherboard/CPU.

Required:
-PCI-Express x 16. I am currently using a 6600GT
-SATA
-This is my RAM, GeIL PC3200 so it has to work with that.
-Floppy drive port
-2 CD ports
-VERY COOL running CPU

Optional:
-About 4 PCI slots
-Firewire

I dont need onboard sound or video, I have a sound card and video card, but whatever works.

I think thats about it. I'm not sure what CPU i will be using, but I will try and figure it out and update. And, I am not expecting you guys to bust your ass looking for this, I just need some suggestions to get me started.

Budget: $350.00. Preferably around $300.00 or so.

Thanks for any help guys,
D

BTW, should I make a seperate thread in CPU's about what CPU would fit me? I'll hold off for now.

$164.
AMD athlon64 3200+

then just find yourself a skt939 motherboard for probably less than $100.

edit: dammit amishkid, you beat me to it.

since ur buget is not very high, i would recommand getting intel. do u live near a fry's electronics? if u do they have these great sales where u can get a cpu and mobo combo for cheap price! the mobo is going to have everything u listed and the cpu is mostly like be 2.8 ghz or athlon 3500, depending on the different kinds.

With 350 dollars, get yourself a 3200+ or a opteron 144 and a DFI LP Ultra-D.
