Default new mb help

ok so tomorrow my new mothor board should be at my house. my first question is should i have both mb's right next to each other so i can just put my cpu from one to another and not have it touch anything else? and also with a new mb am i going to have to reformat my hd again or will it load up and ill just put on the new dirvers? because i had some important files on there before it crashed......

Well you need the PSU - power buttion some ram, cooling for your cpu, maby a video card. Yes you need to reinstall the drivers on the harddrive when you put your new motherboard in

i already have everything to put on the mb i just want to know if i need to reformat and reinstall windows?

hmm is there anyway to get any files that i have on the hd off? before i reformat

Try running a repair install, or you could do a parallel install (your best bet) this will leave all you data intact, it simply installs Windows into a different folder. Here's how you do it: http://www.windowsxpprofessional.win...exfullpage.htm
