Default New HDD - Problem

Today I got a 400GB Sata HDD 7200RPM. I put it in my Pc and installed Vista. It worked perfectly except it says that it only has a capacity of 372GB. I know that HDDs are never quite as much as they say they are on the box, but 28GBs less!!!!! That seems like far too much. Is something wrong?

nope, that looks about right for formatting loss. What is messing you up is how manufactures measure 1 gig vs how a computer sees it. Kinda sucks, but there's nothing you can do.

On an un-related topic, I need to ask you to shorten your signature length to five lines.

yeah, that sounds about right for a 400gb hard drive, I had a 250gb one and once it was formatted it said it had 233gb available. Thats just the way it is.

Thanks for the replies. Also I have shortened my signature although it was only showing up as 4 lines on my PC (Screen resolution??).
