New 500gb HD just came in the mail yesterday, it's SATA.
Running a Asus M2N-E board with 2 other HDs.
One is IDE(?) The other SATA.
Windows recognized my new HD but it doesn't show on my desktop.
Reformatted windows and no luck.
I also have a DVD burner on SATA.
How do I get my computer to recognize the drive and let me use it?

There should be a CD that will let you format it.
If you are using XP..
Use fdisk

check in your BIOS to see if that drive is even there. Also make sure you enable the "Auto Detected" option...first i would check your BIOS before you claim that is doesn't recognize it.

Next step...would go into the windows DiskManagement tool and see if its there.
Or you can use FDISK like mentioned above :)

Go to My Computer > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. Click on Disk Management in the left pane. Your drives should then appear in the right pane. If the new drive is listed there, you can then right it to format and initialize the drive.
