i have a dell computer that over the years i have added to so very little of it is original. i have a 30 GB hdd in there now that i believe is an ATA-133. my question is that in choosing a new hdd to buy do i need to get another ATA-133? my mobo does not support SATA I or II so ATA-100 or ATA-133 is what i need. i will mainly use the new hdd for music and games and movies. thanks for the help.

you can get really anything that your computer can support if it cant use SATA I and II then dont get them other wise you can really get any kind but its always best to stike to the same one you have so useing ATA-100 or ATA-133 would be the best i gusse. but if you cant find any of them you sould be fine with a different kind it just woulded work to the max capacity that the HDD sould work.

oh i can find them easiely, i have not added a hdd to an existing setup before and didn't want to make a stupid mistake.(rma-ing is a pain in the @ss.) thanks for the help.

stick with ATA133 as its the fastest type that your computer will support
