would it be possible to reuse the cdkey and windows XP cd that I used for my current computer and then to use it again to install on a new computer?

my windows xp install cd and cdkey are OEM btw

thanks wasnt sure if reusing the cd key or cd would work.

that helps a lot because I can just backup the files that I want on my other computer then transfer them over.

btw is there anyway to completely wipe my HD so its like brand new again?

You could use a program called Kill Disk or you could download a utility from the drive manufacturer's website.

just to clarify the killdisk program doesnt destroy the HD right? the HD can be used again?

Yes it can be used again. It just low level formats the drive effectively wiping out all data on the drive.
