6600GT? not even. 6600 is more like it. However, the 6600GT is only about $135... so it's not much more. I was gonna get that card.. but I decided i'd be patient and go for a 7600GT instead.. much better card.

If you want to keep it till college, you are going to need one hell of a video card and all top of the line parts. Really, 5 years in the computer tech age is a VERY long time. New things come out every year. And soon those parts will be obsolete.

No kidding. My dad's computer is only 3 years old and it is starting to show it's age in newer games.

Radeon X1300 Pro
Radeon X1600 Pro (I believe)

You can get many cards for $120. You don't need a $300 card to play games on high settings, you do however, need a $300 video card if you want to play at high settings at higher resolutions such as 1600x1200.
