try running Memtest.

i was finding my PC was sluggish and crashy, shortly after it started bluescreening and then just halting at POST. Turns out one of my memory modules was going bad.

i guess $hit happens.

i think its unlikely to be your hard-drive

is your CPU overheating?? Install a CPU monitor tool and monitor the tempreature, that could explain the freezes

you could try this

it's a little on the glitchy side sometimes, but it does the job.

Try checking your video card temps, and try changing your drivers (up/downgrading).

this sounds alot like the problems i was having:

slowness, followed by BSOD, followed by sticking at POST. Like i said it was a bad memory module.

Try doing some hardware troubleshooting. Firstly, try booting into safe mode; if no problems happen, it is a non-critical driver that is causing your BSOD.

Take out one memory module, and if the problem persists, put it back and take out a different module. Continue this until you run out of sticks to test, or solve the problem.

Remove the GPU and run onboard graphics for a bit: see if the problem persists or not.

If you problem persists beyond the GPU, you only have the CPU, HDD, PSU and possibly motherboard left as culprits.
