I've decided to build a dedicated gaming system seperate from my work PC as my work PC has to continually operate on 'work'.
I'm building around the Pentium M chip:-
-AOpen i915GMm-HFS Motherboard
-Pentium M 780 (2.26ghz)
-2GB Crucial Ballistix (2x 1gb)
-MSI 7800GTX
-Samsung Spinpoint 250gb hard drive
-Sony DRU810A DVD/RW
-Zalman reserator water cooling kit
-Creative X-fi Music soundcard
-Seasonic S12 500W power supply.
-Antec P180 Case

I haven't bought anything yet so if you have any comments...

Looks good to me.

I just bought a laptop for Uni (I'm not from St Andrews, I'm from Edinburgh shock horror), the specs are in my sig - it's similar, but yours is better.

I get good performance out of mine, so you shouldn't have any issues.

You can use the top of the line Athlon FX CPUs. I hear Mushkin Redline offer ultra low latency and so does Geil ONE series memory modules. If you get the 7800GTX, get the OC version if you can afford them. Chances are they are more stable than lower clocked cards of the same series. BFG and eVGA offer this kind of boosted performance among the 7800GTX.
