just got a used Desktop. When I try to load the o/s, the system says hd is not found. I did notice the SATA operation is set to Legacy? Not sure if that why no drive is found even though the SATA drive is physically installed. BIOS does show no sata found as well. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the drive is not showing up in the BIOS, it leads me to believe that the drive is bad.

Yep i would think so too. If your drive doesnt show up in the bios and it's likely to be dead.
