Default Are network cards nessessary?

Okay im working on my first pc build
(and im loving every minute of it!!!)
i was talking to a fellow nerd (Yes we call ourselfs nerds)
and he said that using any of the built-in components from the mobo
will slow down the CPU
so then
would a dedicated 10/100/1000 network card make any differance
i have this bb pc kit
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...033&CatId=2405
2 of these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130319
will have this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815306006
and this
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=2687630
shortly
plus some optical drives, and more RAM and a heat sink
with this power supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817814012

so what are you opinions and suggestions
i have mixed emmotions about getting one
but it want the CPU to run as fast as it can
for maximum performance
with out oc'ing it

I don't think it would affect it too bad. It might. Idk. I've used integrated and dedicated network cards on the same computer and I can't tell you that I saw a boost in performance.

I wouldn't bother, you won't notice a huge difference anyway. The the nic I always use onboard.

It's a dedicated chip on the board that is basically the same as the chip on a pci card. There is not an impact on performance either way.
