Default Re: network boot?

net work boot can be used for remote instalation services (RIS). or bootstrap loading...

when you boot from the network the boot media is (obviously) the network, and it's treated the same as if it were a CD rom boot.

meaning that you can either boot into a live cd type environment (boot strap loading), or you can use it to install a nwe OS (RIS).

to use it you need either a RIS server, or a terminal server with bootdhcp options enabled.
