Heres the board:
GA-M61VME-S2
I am planning on upgrading the current cpu (a sempron 3200+) to a much more powerful AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+. Need a video card, but Not sure what to get. Will the board being a lower cost board hold back the cpu and a powerful video card? I will eventually upgrade to 2 gigs of ddr2 ram. Suggestions please.

first off if your building a gameing rig
we need at lest a 800 buck price range for a highend rig that will last and have great upgrade ability (with no monitors speakers ect just tower)1200 would be a lot better tho
you could also save money by stripping parts from other computers such as
a hard drive dvd drive as long as there not ancient

give us a full price range
on what you want to spends for the whole comp
and i will post links to the best build i can for that price

Ive got everything but a video card already. But I want to upgrade what I can when I can afford it. Basically I am paying as I have the money for it. So cost isnt too much a factor. I just dont want to buy something my motherboard wont support.

Expansion Slots 1 PCI Express x 16 slot (Note 2)
1 PCI Express x 1 slot
2 PCI slots
(Note 2) The GA-M61VME-S2 supports up to PCI Express x1 mode. (please refer to the VGA cards support list)

What exactly does it mean that it will only support PCI Express x1 mode? I pulled that from gigabytes site. Does this mean video cards will not be fully supported?
